Why Thayer Nursery Kiln-Dried Firewood? Because There Is A Difference!

Our Kiln Dried Firewood:

  • Is all hardwood (beech, birch, maple, oak & ash.)
  • Is oven dried for three days reducing moisture content to below 25%. The moisture content of a log determines how much smoke it produces. These logs dont produce much smoke so you are able to close the damper down after the fire has started, keeping more heat in the house and slowing the burn down.
  • Burns clean & completely so there is little ash & less creosote buildup in your chimney -
    ensuring a cleaner and safer burn.
  • Is insect and mold free so it is safe to store in garage, on porch or basement! It can be stored outside if it is covered with a tarp to keep it dry.
  • Our wood is stored under cover in our barn so it remains dry all season long.
  • Every piece burns hotter & longer, cutting trips to the woodpile in half!
  • The logs are 16 long but they can be special ordered as short as 12" and up to 22" long.

We sell our wood in true 1/4 cord increments up to 2 cord truckloads. Once stacked the dimensions of a 1/2 cord is 4 4 4 =64cubicfeet and 1 cord is 4 8 4= 128cubicfeet.
