As part of our efforts towards building an environmentally friendly business & community, we are proud to announce the accreditation of four of our employees by the Northeast Organic farming Association (NOFA). Peter DiZinno, Fernando Flores, Carlos Lemus & Maggie Oldfield attended & successfully passed the rigorous Organic Land Care course sponsored by NOFA.
The Organic Land Care program is guided by a volunteer multi-state committee of professional landscapers, scientists and activists dedicated to promoting organic lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, parks and athletic fields. NOFA’s mission is to extend the vision, principles and expertise of organic agriculture to the landscapes where people live their daily lives.
Our goal at Thayer Nursery is to assist you in developing an organic lawn & garden program. Organic management is beneficial to not only the environment but to human health as well. We can help you rebuild a healthy soil filled with a diversity of living things, choose plants that will thrive under the conditions in your yard and improve the health of your land and the people who live in it.
In our pharmacy, we have augmented our offering of organic products. We offer the complete lines of both the Organica and Jonathan Green 4 Step Organic Lawn Care programs.
We have also added two new bulk materials - Superhumus and Nutrisoil. Superhumus is an approved 100% organic compost. It can be used to amend soil in the garden, incorporate into existing soil in new plantings, topdressing lawns and as a mulch. It provides a great source of essential organic matter for your soil. Nutrisoil is our custom blend of 3/8” screened loam and organic compost which is great for starting a new lawn, topdressing lawns when overseeding and creating new garden beds.
Thayer Nursery will soon be offering an exciting new product that is on the cutting edge of the organic movement called compost tea. We will soon be equipped to produce this valuable product for pickup at the garden center as well as providing on-site spray applications.
